Summer is drawing to a close and it has been a scorcher where I live – hot and humid. You know what that means. Sweat and plenty of it. It’s the kind of heat that makes you lazy and uncomfortable and not exactly feeling sexy. So, let me share with you a few products I discovered this summer that has made my life more bearable and a hell of a lot more comfortable.
Coochy is a tongue in cheek name for what turns out to be a fantastic brand. I was given a few of their products to try out courtesy of Betty’s Toy Box and I have to say that I was universally impressed on two fronts.
- I have super sensitive skin, but I also shave and wax regularly, so I need products that won’t irritate my skin further
- I have scent sensitivity so heavily perfumed or artificial scents will drive me into a sneezing fit.
Let’s dive in to which products I used and what I thought.
Coochy After Shave Soothing Protection Mist – Botanical Blast 4 oz
This is a spray that you put on after you shave or wax to soothe your skin but also to prevent any ingrown hairs or rashes from popping up. It contains a whole bunch of essential oils and natural ingredients to get the job done.
How does it smell?
This is a big one for me obviously. It has a really light scent leaning more towards the more herbal ingredients like echinacea, lavender, and chamomile.
How to use it?
I just spray this on after I shower and stand in front of my fan to let it dry because I’m too lazy to rub it in. It dries pretty quickly, and I get absolutely no stinging when I spray it on, which is VERY unusual for me.
What was my overall opinion?
I love this stuff. Previously, I had only experienced after shave or waxing items that stung and smelled horrible. This is literally a breath of fresh air. It is still scented but lightly and with more natural smells that I don’t react adversely with. If you can’t stand any scents at all, this won’t be for you. My skin feels smooth and I have fewer ingrown hairs and irritated patches especially around my vulva.
Coochy Intimate Protection & Moisture Wicking Lotion – Peony Prowess 4 oz
This goes on as a lotion and then turns into a powder. The key ingredient in this magical transformation is tapioca starch which makes this transformation as you rub it on. Coochy promotes it as a product to keep your intimate areas fresh and dry. That is a polite way of saying genitals (and bodies in general) get sweaty – especially in any creases and folds. This is a moisture wicking product that keeps those folds drier and thus reduces irritation caused by sweat. Like talc but with all the nasty cancer causing, lung irritating, dusty floor and body issues.
How does it smell?
Again, I’m really impressed by this. More floral than the shaving mist but not cloying. Lightly floral.
What was my overall opinion?
This stuff has been a life saver this summer. The best place I have found to use it is under my breasts where is helps with that sweaty under boob issue which can cause rashes and yeast infections. I also use it in the creases of my legs where it’s great at keeping undies from chafing. This as a godsend for bigger bodies with their voluptuous curves and creases. I don’t recommend this for your vulva. For me, it caused a mild heated sensation and I don’t want to mess around with my natural flora. I adore the lotion to powder trick though. It makes it mess free to put on and you can get dressed before it dries. You will end up with powder residue in your clothes and on your hands though, just as you would with talc. Still, totally worth it to avoid heat rash and chafing.
Coochy Shaving Creams (7 Different Varieties)
What is it?
The core of the Coochy brand is their shaving creams. They have jojoba and skin conditioning agents which means they help to soften the hair that you’re shaving, making the job easier. They have 7 different scents (including unscented) so there is something for everybody.
How does it smell?
If you have scent sensitivity, the unscented is going to be the one for you. The other scents include Sweet Nectar, Frosted Cake, Be Original, Green Tease and Floral Haze. They are all bright, strong and clean scents that smell lovely when you’re using them and don’t linger too much on the skin afterwards. Frosted Cake smells so much like a real vanilla cupcake that I was craving sweets after using it!
What was my overall opinion?
I used the shave creams on both my entire bikini area and legs plus I had a friend use it on their face. I found that it had a lovely creamy texture and gave me a fantastic shave which left my skin feeling soft and moisturized after. On my super sensitive pubic area it really seemed to give me an easier shave that resulted in much less irritated skin than with other products I’ve tried.
For facial shaving the report was much the same. It left my tester with a smooth, irritation-free shave and soft skin afterwards. They tried the unscented, since many of the scents are rather powerful and sweet, but my tester said they would continue to use this product happily.
